Is Quinoa Food Right For You?
Quinoa food is probably the healthiest substitute for rice, oats and pasta. Incans refer to quinoa as the "Mother of all Grains" and back in the old days, they eat it to gain back their stamina and strength. Did you know that they value quinoa so much that they refer to it as the golden grain?
I love how nutritious quinoa is, it contains high-quality protein and essential nutrients. You'd be happy to know that it's one of the few food sources that can offer "complete protein". This means that it contains all 9 essential amino acids including lysine. It's also known to alleviate the symptoms of Type 2 diabetes because it is rich with magnesium, a mineral that is necessary for the body to stabilize glucose and insulin levels. It effectively reduces triglycerides as well which is important for diabetics.
If you want to start incorporating grains in your diet because of the health benefits they offer but you have trouble in digesting them, quinoa food is your best friend. Don't worry about how much it costs, it's very inexpensive that you can have it 3 times a day.
Quinoa food contains magnesium, manganese and potassium. Of all the three mentioned minerals, magnesium is one of the most common minerals that we lack. Why is it so important? It regulates calcium absorption, energy production and muscle contraction.
Is it easy to cook? Yes! Just cook it like how you would cook rice. Make sure you rinse quinoa well and remember that the water shouldn't be sudsy or lathery. 1 cup of quinoa should be cooked with 2 cups of water. That will always be your proportion. Bring it to a boil and then turn the heat down, simmer it for 15 minutes or until water is fully absorbed. I love quinoa because it is so versatile and it does not overpower the other ingredients in any recipe. Have it for breakfast, lunch or supper, it's completely up to you!
